Artist Statement

I sculpt fiber memoirs, discordant tapestries composed from illustrations and hand-woven fabric. I begin each work by weaving a base of my handspun and machine-made yarns. It is hard for me to weave something that isn’t emotional. My drawings are inspired by image searches and daily journaling. Language becomes a brushstroke or a texture. I cut up my weavings, risking everything, and sew it all back together with the images and my prose. My detail-oriented process conveys my insecurity and how that is used to tell a story. The compositions are as much poetry as artwork.
